What I'm Willing to Risk for Obama....

This one hurt...big time.

While playing at my computer here in the U.K. at 2:30 a.m. our time...and having indulged in a few glasses of wine...I happened to check my email and found this little missive from the Obama field campaign assistant...

Friends--

One of the Regional Field Directors for Barack Obama's Campaign for Change in New Mexico needs your help! It is vital that our staffers have transportation to get to the different offices in their regions daily, but at the moment, he has no car and no way of purchasing one. If there is any way that you have an extra car and you are willing to lend it to him, he would be happy to speak with you and discuss his situation.

He is working very hard to get South Valley, Belen and Los Lunas organized, but he needs your help to get around to all of these places! Please write back to me if you would consider lending him a car until the election and would like to speak with him.

First of all..'Friends'??? I haven't accepted that term since McSame started using it for everything from speaking about missile defense systems to directions to the men's room at Sturgis.

Seriously, refer to me as 'fellow advocate', 'concerned American' or perhaps 'Remotely connected citizen of the United States who happens to be supporting the same candidate', but no...not 'friends'.

But..as its early in the morning here and most people who are even aware of my small existence on DKos know that I've been trading time between the U.K. and the U.S., I thought why not?? Why not indeeed?? What the heck am I thinking??

So...for the cause..and just because..I offered up my little indulgence. His name is 'Raul' and I saw him on a dealership lot while looking for an SUV but went 'Hey, what's your name?'. Had no idea what he was, what his year was, anything...was just intruiged. Got behind the wheel and said 'Heck, yes'.

His name is Raul..he's not 'a friend', but he may just be having some fun while I'm over here. I think he'd like it.

I'll be a little jealous, I'll admit it...but if we are talking about a better future, I'll get over it.
